To provide an emergency deceleration device of moving equipment such as elevator equipment in which the working reliability when required is high, and the increase in weight of a mobile structural body can be suppressed.
The emergency deceleration device comprises a braking and holding body 10 to engage a guide rail 12 to guide a mobile structural body in a holding manner and a stopper 11 which is provided on a terminating end portion of the guide rail and has a thickened portion 15 with the thickness increased in the terminating direction, and performs deceleration in an emergency by absorbing the kinetic energy of the mobile structural body through the entry of the stopper into the braking and holding body. In this emergency deceleration device, the braking and holding body is fixingly connected to the mobile structural body, the thickened portion is formed to be ground when the braking and holding body enters the stopper, and the kinetic energy of the mobile structural body is mainly absorbed by the grinding thereof.
