Title:
EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN SYSTEM FOR ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03121219
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To simply and positively perform emergency shudown of an engine when an output shaft of the engine fractures by breaking a tube conveying incompressive fluid in conformity to the movement of the output shaft, and depressurizing an accumulator to close a fuel shut-off valve.

CONSTITUTION: As mechanisms capable of most simply transmitting an axial movement of an end of an output shaft 1 to a fuel shut-off valve 12 when the output shaft 1 of a gas turbine engine fractures, an accumulator 9 and a tube 8 are installed in the rear of a power turbine 4. When the output shaft 1 fractures and the output shaft 1 moves axially by thrust supported by its thrust bearing, the tip of a tube 8 leading incompressive fluid close to a roller bearing 6 of the output shaft 1 is broken to depressurize the accumulator 9 instantly. Thus, at the same time a spring 11 is extended, the accumulator 9 contracts to close the fuel shut-off valve 12.
