To easily adjust spring force of a U-shaped platelike spring without removing the U-shaped platelike spring from an emergency stop device.
In the emergency stop device 13, a pair of wedges 3, 3 are arranged to nip a guide rail 2. Wedge receivers 5, 5 are arranged through a transfer roller 4 on outer sides of the wedges 3, 3, and the U-shaped platelike spring 20 is arranged on outer sides of the wedge receivers 5, 5. A pressing device 21 pressing outer faces of the wedge receivers 5, 5 is attached to an opening end part of the U-shaped platelike spring 20. This pressing device 21 is constituted by a bolt screw-fitted in a female screw formed on the platelike spring 20 and is attached from an outer side of the platelike spring 20 to adjust spring force of the platelike spring 20 by changing projection amount of its tip part.
