To provide an emulsifying agent for an emulsion polymerization, excellent in polymerization stability and mechanical stability, showing less foaming and capable of obtaining a polymer emulsion excellent in film gloss.
This emulsifying agent for the emulsion polymerization is expressed by the following general formula (1), and contains an anionic surfactant of which raw material nonionic surfactant has 0.8-2.5 degree of branching and 1.10-1.20 Mw/Mn of the degree of multiple dispersion. Provided that, the above-mentioned general formula (1) is: R1-O-(AO)z-X [wherein, R1 is a 12-14C alkyl; AO is a 2-4C oxyalkylene; (z) is an integer of 1-50; X is an anionic hydrophilic group; and the addition form of the AO is a random addition, block addition or their mix-addition].
