This emulsion composition is obtained by including a (co)polymer which is prepared by (co)polymerization of an epoxy group-bearing acrylic acid-based derivative of formula I (R1 to R3, R8 to R10, and R14 to R17 are each 1,2-epoxyethyl or the like; R11 is H or the like) or formula II (X is methylene) using, for example, a polymerization initiator such as sodium persulfate pref. at ≤100°C, wherein the copolymer is prepared, pref. by copolymerization between 0.1-50.0 pts.wt. of the above derivative and 50.0-99.9 pts.wt. of a vinyl monomer copolymerizable with the above derivative. This emulsion composition can be directly used as an emulsion-type coating material, adhesive, or the like through formulating a pigment, antioxidant, stabilizer, and/or filler.
