To obtain a polymerizable emulsion which is excellent in emulsion stability and in heat resistance when formed into a film, and gives a polymer free from discoloration, by using as the constituents a compound having C-C double bonds polymerizable by actinic radiation, and a compound having polymerizable double bonds and nonionic and/or cationic hydrophilic group(s).
This emulsion contains at least a compound having at least one C-C double bond polymerizable by actinic radiation, preferably undergoing radical polymerization, (e.g. pentaerythritol tetraacrylate) and a compound having both at least one C-C double bond, preferably undergoing radical polymerization, more preferably comprising allyl, methallyl, (meth)acryloyl or propenyl, and nonionic and/or cationic hydrophilic group(s) [e.g. a compound of the formula (R is H or CH3; R1 is methylene or carbonyl; R2 is a hydrocarbon group, or acyl; AO1 is oxyalkylene; and n1 is 0, 1 or greater)].
