PURPOSE: To obtain an enantiomer comprising a substd. (aminophenyl) heteroaryl ethylamine (salt) which is used as a preventive or therapeutic medicine for nervous disorders such as Altzheimer's dementia, schizophrenia, epilepsy and Parkinson's disease.
CONSTITUTION: A racemic mixture of compds. expressed by formula I is passed through a column packed with an optically active column material (e.g. triacetyl cellulose) to resolve with ethanol and the first eluted fraction is corrected. Thus, (-) enantiomer of the compds. expressed by formula I having at least 99% purity is obtd. In formula I, Ar is formula II (Y is a halogen, OH, a 1 to 5C alkyl, an alkoxy, etc.; (n) is an integer 0 to 3), formula III (R2 is H, a 1 to 5C alkyl, a 1 to 5C alkanoyl), formula IV ((p) is 0 or 1), formula V ((q) is an integer 0 to 4); and the compd. is, for example, 2-aminoN-methyl-α(3-methyl2-thienyl)benzylethaneamine.
