Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for adding recovery information to an inter-frame encoding video for the purpose of protecting video quality from packet loss.
SOLUTION: An inter-frame encoding video signal uses a data division function for dividing a video stream into a high priority part 104 and a low priority part 105. After that, systematic forward error/deletion correction encoding is executed only for data of the high priority part 104. High priority part data which are forward error/deletion corrected and low priority part data which are not forward error/deletion corrected are combined into be a packet, transmitted to a reception side through the same network and decoded there. Depending upon a degree of protection for an error or a deletion provided by a specific forward error/deletion correction(FEC), loss of the packet including the high priority part data is corrected by the data where there is no loss in the high priority part.
