Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encoding system converter capable of converting an encoding system of encoded image data with less image quality deterioration in spite of a comparatively short processing period of time, and to provide an encoding system conversion method, its recording medium, and its program.
SOLUTION: A first recording medium 101 records first encoded image data resulting from encoding an image signal of a moving picture by a first encoding system. An encoding parameter estimate section 102 analyzes a code stream of the first encoded image data fragmentarily read from the first recording medium 101 and estimates an encoding parameter to encode the analyzed code stream by a second encoding system. A conversion section 103 converts the code stream of the first encoded image data continuously read from the first recording medium 101 into second encoded image data employing the second encoding system on the basis of the encoding parameter estimated by the encoding parameter estimate section 102. A second recording medium 104 records the second encoded image data encoded by the conversion section 103.
