PURPOSE: To provide a simple and reliable end wall, with which winding rolls can be piled up on a palette without slipping and have an improved strength.

CONSTITUTION: An end wall 1 comprised with a plate 11 having a smooth surface at front side and being reinforced by radial ribs and annular ribs at the rear side. Webs extended vertically against the plate 11 also reinforce these radial ribs. And another webs reinforce rounded webs of locking bosses 4. A central push-in peg is located on the front side of the plate 11. Stacking bosses 9, 19 comprising stacking pockets 8, 18 are located on three walls 13 of the plate 11. These pockets have a shape complementary to that of the staking bosses 9, 19. The fourth side wall 30 of the wall 1 have a grooving 31 and, when a winding roll is packaged by use of the end walls, rests on a pallet.
