Abstract:
Provided are an endoscopic system and an operation method therefor that, when light is emitted by switching among a plurality of illumination light beams, are capable of accurately controlling the light emission amount of an illumination light beam even in an illumination light beam switching period. A rolling shutter-type imaging sensor (48) outputs a switching-period image signal in a switching period during which switching is performed between a first illumination light beam and a second illumination light beam. By using the switching-period image signal, a first brightness calculation coefficient, and a second brightness calculation coefficient, a brightness information calculation unit (54) calculates switching-period brightness information that indicates brightness of a to-be-observed object in the switching period. On the basis of the switching-period brightness information, a light source control unit (21) controls the light emission amount of the first illumination light beam or the second illumination light beam.
