The endoscope system includes: the endoscope 2; the first peripheral equipment 3A transmitting/receiving endoscope-related-data and having a function of receiving an endoscopic image signal; and the second peripheral equipment 3B not having a communication function but having a reception function. When the first peripheral equipment is connected to the endoscope, the energization of the endoscope is detected based on a command to be input from the first peripheral equipment, to rewrite the endoscope-related-data in a storage part. When the second peripheral equipment is connected to the endoscope, the energization of the endoscope is detected based on connection to the second peripheral equipment, to rewrite the endoscope-related-data in the storage part.
