PURPOSE: To obtain an endoscope which allows proper-distance observation or treatment by projecting a flexible hood from the tip part of the insertion part of a channel for the insertion of a treating tool.

CONSTITUTION: A soft endoscope 11 consists of an insertion part 12, operation part 14, ocular part 15, light guide cable 16, etc. The insertion part 12 is bent to bring a curved part 28 into contact with the internal wall 33 of the esophagus with the cut side 32 of the hood 31 in. The cut 32 is positioned at a desired point 34. The curved part 28 contacts one wall part A of the internal wall 33, the hood 31 of the tip part 19 abuts almost on the position 34, and the hood 3 at the abutting part is flexible, so it flexes in parallel to the surface of the internal wall 33 to obtain wide contacting area. Thus, the curved part contacts the circumference of the position 34 with the wide area, so pain is eliminated and sufficient fixation is attained even with small pressure, so that a treating tool such as a syringe stylus 24 is operated accurately in safety.
