Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new methods for considering, diagnosing, preventing and treating inflammation.
SOLUTION: DNA sequences encoding ELAMs, methods for producing such molecules, ELAMs (including the specific molecules ELAM1 and VCAM1 and 1b) essentially free of normally associated animal proteins, antibodies to ELAMs, DNA sequences encoding molecules involved in leukocyte adhesion (MILAs), methods for producing such molecules, MILAs (including a specific molecule CDX) essentially free of normally associated animal proteins, antibody preparations which are reactive for MILAs, methods for identifying molecules which inhibit binding of leukocytes to endothelial cells, methods for inhibiting leukocyte binding to endothelial cells, and methods for detecting acute inflammation, are provided, respectively.
