PURPOSE: To protect occupants even at the time of collision by relieving a load by the rearward protrusion of a steering, and ensuring a space while minimizing deformation load after plastic deformation starts.

CONSTITUTION: This steering column joint is provided with a steering column guide 11 which has joint plates 12, 12 integrally-connected to a steering column 55 at its end, is jointed to a steering column support 59 through a pin 57, and permits the steering column 55 move forward, and collapsible arms 14, 14 which is integrally-formed with the joint plates 12, 12 with its end contacting with the pin 57, and decreases deformation load when plastic deformation starts.
