To cope with the problem related to an energy storage device, in which development of such a negative electrode achieving both of output characteristic and cycle characteristic is required, for attaining higher capacitance, higher output, and improved charging/discharging cycle characteristics.
The energy storage device 1 includes a positive electrode collector 11, a positive electrode 10 which is arranged on the positive electrode collector 11 and contains positive electrode active material for adsorbing/desorbing at least anion in reversible manner, a negative electrode collector 13, a negative electrode 12 which is arranged on the negative electrode collector 13 and is made from negative electrode active material for substantially occluding and releasing lithium ion in reversible manner, being a thin film whose thickness is 10 μm or less, and an electrolyte containing fluorinated carbonic acid ester. The negative electrode active material contains at least one of silicon, silicon-contained alloy, and silicon oxide, with lithium being occluded into the negative electrode active material in advance.
