Abstract:
To improve the combustion stability of an engine by making it easy to generate non-equilibrium plasma even in the second half of a compression stroke.SOLUTION: In the second half of the compression stroke, thermal equilibrium plasma is generated between electrodes of plasma generating means (a discharge plug 13) by applying first pulse voltage therebetween to cause electric discharge. Right after finishing the generation of the thermal equilibrium plasma, non-equilibrium plasma is generated between the electrodes of the plasma generating means (the discharge plug 13) by applying second pulse voltage therebetween to cause electric discharge.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
