Abstract:
To provide an engine component of which a heat insulation layer has high heat insulation property and good adhesion property to a base material.SOLUTION: The engine component includes the metal base material, and the heat insulation layer provided on the surface of the base material. The heat insulation layer is formed of a porous material including glasses and inorganic fibers. In the heat insulation layer, a dispersion part and a plurality of aggregation parts scattered in the dispersion part exist. The aggregation parts are such that a fiber rate X as the rate of the area occupied by the inorganic fibers is 35-60%. The dispersion part is such that the fiber rate X is lower than 35% and higher than 60%.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
