Abstract:
To provide an engine component of which the heat insulation layer has high heat insulation property and good adhesion property to a base material.SOLUTION: The engine component includes the metal base material, and the heat insulation layer provided on the surface of the base material. The heat insulation layer is formed of a porous material including glasses and inorganic fibers and having continuous pores passing through the heat insulation layer in the thickness direction. A surface roughness Ra of the surface is 3.2-25 μm. A surface roughness Rz of the surface is 12.5-50 μm. The average aspect ratio of the inorganic fibers is preferably at least 10. In the cross section of the heat insulation layer, the ratio of the area of the inorganic fibers to the sum of the area of the glasses and the area of the inorganic fibers is preferably 20-60%.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
