Abstract:

To provide an engine control device for a hybrid vehicle capable of properly increasing an operation stop region of an engine to improve fuel consumption without impairing comfort of air conditioning even in the hybrid vehicle having a manual air conditioner.

This engine control device for the hybrid vehicle has a hybrid system including the engine and an electric motor, traveling the vehicle with selectively using the engine and the motor according to conditions; and an air conditioning system for air-conditioning a cabin, including an air flow rate regulation mean capable of regulating an air flow rate cooled by operation of the engine and supplied into the cabin to an arbitrary air flow rate set value. The engine control device also has an air flow rate set value recognition means 16 for recognizing the air flow rate set value; an in-cabin environment recognition means 17 for recognizing temperature environment inside the cabin; an out-cabin environment recognition means 18 for recognizing temperature environment outside the cabin; and an air conditioning load calculation means 15 for calculating an air conditioning load on the basis of the air flow rate set value to decide at least an excessive air conditioning load or an insufficient air conditioning load, the in-cabin temperature environment and the out-cabin temperature environment. The engine control device feeds back the calculated air conditioning load to control the operation of the engine.
