This engine control device comprises a variable valve lift mechanism 101 capable of switching at least the valve lift amounts of intake and exhaust valves when working fluid pressure rises to a first switching pressure or higher and a means 102 giving an instruction for switching the valve lift amounts to the mechanism 101. The engine control device also comprises a means 102 for switching the combustion control factors of the engine at a timing after a predetermined first delay time is passed from the timing when the working fluid pressure detected by a pressure detection means 107 rises to a first reference pressure.
