To restrain a manipulated variable from being incorrectly computed by being influenced by fluctuation of a detection value of the valve timing (a phase of a camshaft) by fluctuation in cam torque, in a control device for controlling a correction of the ignition timing and a fuel injection quantity in response to the valve timing made variable by a variable valve timing mechanism.
At every phase detection timing set in a plurality per one rotation of the camshaft, a phase of the camshaft is detected, and the detection timing of detecting the phase in a predetermined range including an average value of the detection value, is learnt as the detection timing of a phase detection value used for correction control of the ignition timing and the fuel injection quantity. The phase is detected at every learnt detection timing, and the correction control of the ignition timing and the fuel injection quantity is performed based on a detection result.
