To solve the problem that, when stopping an engine without performing sufficient warming-up, there is the risk of a non-combusted fuel or the like being residual in a combustion chamber and there is the high risk of fogging that may occur if a normal start sequence is performed.
An engine control method in starting includes steps of: storing a stop-time water temperature that is an engine temperature during engine stop; comparing the stop-time water temperature to a predetermined threshold when starting an engine; and calculating a correction value for at least one of a fuel injection amount in starting, an intake air quantity, ignition timing and an ignition coil electrification time based on the stop-time water temperature and a start-time water temperature that is an engine temperature in starting, if the stop-time temperature is lower than the predetermined threshold.
