Abstract:
To provide an engine control system for appropriately controlling combustion speed in a transient state of a control valve for changing a gas flow in a cylinder.SOLUTION: An engine control system 100 for an engine 1 includes: a gas flow control valve control section for controlling a gas flow control valve 28 for changing a gas flow in a cylinder by partially opening/closing a flow passage cross section of an intake flow passage 27; and an EGR amount control section for controlling the amount of exhaust gas recirculated or retained in the cylinder. The EGR amount control section executes EGR rate suppression control for controlling the amount of exhaust gas when transfer from a closed state to an opened state of the gas flow control valve is predicted, and the gas flow control valve control section is configured to transfer the gas flow control valve from the closed state to the opened state after a predetermined delay time elapses after start of the EGR rate suppression control.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
