Abstract:
To control the distribution of air-fuel mixture in a combustion chamber with high accuracy.SOLUTION: A control device for an engine 1 where SI combustion of air-fuel mixture is started inside a combustion chamber 17 by flame propagation and then CI combustion of unburnt air-fuel mixture is caused by self-ignition includes a control part 10 for controlling an ignition part 25 and a fuel injection part 6. The control part 10 controls the SI combustion while controlling air-fuel mixture distribution utilizing a swirl flow. Injection is carried out at least multiple times, including front-stage injection for injecting fuel at least at a timing after an intake stroke but before the middle stage of a compression stroke and rear-stage injection for injecting the fuel at a timing after the middle stage of the compression stroke or later.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 15
