Title:
ENGINE COOLER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS63124821
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent an engine from being overheated when an engine runs under high load by using both a usual radiator and a high load radiator, maintaining the temperature of cooling water lower than that at the low load time, and inhibiting restoration to high temperature maintained at low load time if the high load radiator is hot. CONSTITUTION:The cooling water outlet 1b of an engine body is connected to a usual radiator 2 via a primary passage 4 including an opening and closing valve V1 and has a branch passage separated at the upstream point of the opening and closing valve V1. The branch passage is connected to a high load radiator 3 via a secondary passage 6 including an opening and closing valve V2. A controller 17 receiving signals regarding to the amount of intake air, revolution speed and cooling water sensors 10, 11 and 12 changes over the opening valves V1-V4 to use both the radiators 2 and 3 at the high load time so that the temperature of cooling water is maintained in the lower range than that specified at the low load time. When the cooling water temperature sensor 12 of the high load radiator 3 reads high water temperature, the controller 17 restricts the cooling water temperature to change to the higher range even if the engine runs under low load.
