To provide an optimum system for controlling and monitoring specific engine components of an internal combustion engine to optimize the action of the engine and to reduce the quantity of pollutant components in exhaust gas.
This engine exhaust gas control system is provided with a plurality of sensors for detecting various engine operating conditions and generating output signals indicating these conditions. At least one sensor is provided with a gas sensor attached to the system and outputting an output signal indicating the concentration of prescribed gas components in engine exhaust. The system is further provided with a means for responding to the output signals from a plurality of sensors and controlling to optimize the action of the engine and/or to purify engine exhaust gas during the action under the prescribed operating conditions.
