To provide an engine gear transmission device that can prevent a mounting error of a locking plate.
An engine gear transmission device is configured as follows. A pivot 2 is protruded from a cylinder block 1. A receiving seat 3 is provided on the base end side of the pivot 2. An idle gear 4 is fitted to the pivot 2. A locking plate 6 is mounted on a protruding end surface 5 of the pivot 2. The idle gear 4 is sandwiched between the receiving seat 3 and the outer peripheral edge 7 of the locking plate 6 so that the idle gear 4 is mounted on the pivot 2. When a punched product of a sheet metal, in which a shear droop 9 is generated on the front side-surface 7a of the outer peripheral edge 7, is used as the locking plate 6, a proper-direction matching protrusion 11 is provided on a rear side-surface 6b of the locking plate 6 and a proper-direction matching fitting hole 12 into which the proper-direction matching protrusion 11 is fitted is provided in the protruding end surface 5 of the pivot 2.
