To prevent contact of a governor lever with its peripheral cords or hoses.
In an engine having a mechanical governor, in the forward side of a governor lever pivot 7, an oil filter cartridge 11 and its mounting seat 11a are disposed at a height between a carburetor 5 and a fuel force-feed pump 9. A governor 3 is made to extend, with the governor lever pivot 7 as the origin, between the oil filter cartridge 11 and the fuel force-feed pump 9 as approaching an engine side wall 8, before to extend between the engine side wall 8 and the fuel force-feed pump 9 below the carburetor 5. The oil filter cartridge 11 and its mounting seat 11a are located in front of the governor lever 3, the fuel force-feed pump 9 is below and transversely outside that lever, and the carburetor 5 is above that lever, so as to surround the governor lever 3 together. In this arrangement, the peripheral cords or hoses are intercepted by those components and are not likely to contact with the governor lever 3, to permit an appropriate control of the governor.
