Abstract:
To provide a high-pressure fuel pump for an engine, capable of maintaining fuel pressure within a common rail within a desired pressure range without raising it, even in a case where a required fuel amount of an engine is smaller than a minimum fuel amount to be discharged through a high-pressure fuel pump.
Comparison is made between a minimum fuel amount to be discharged through the high-pressure fuel pump and a fuel supply amount injected and supplied from a fuel injection valve, and when the minimum fuel amount to be discharged is substantially equal to or greater than the fuel supply amount, a fuel relief valve provided on the common rail is opened or the opening degree thereof is increased.
