Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an engine oil composition for ships, having excellent neutralizing actions on produced sulfuric acid and capable of improving preventing properties of corrosion and abrasion.
SOLUTION: This engine oil for ships is obtained by including (A) 1-30 mass.% overbasic alkaline earth metallic phenate having >400 mg KOH/g and ≤500 mg KOH/g base number, ≤1,000 mm2/s viscosity at 100°C and 1-20 mass.% total amount of fatty acids, (B) 0.5-15 mass.% overbasic alkaline earth metallic salicylate having >200 mg KOH/g and ≤350 mg KOH/g base number, (C) 0.5-15 mass.% overbasic alkaline earth metallic salicylate having 100-200 mg KOH/g base number and (D) 0.1-5 mass.% nonionic surfactant in a base oil of a mineral oil or a synthetic lubricating oil or a mixture of both.
