Title:
ENGINE STARTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3945253
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starter which suppresses any wear of a brush caused by a rush current when starting the energization, and effectively utilizes the energy in the exhaust stroke during cranking.
SOLUTION: The engine starter A to drive an engine in which a rotary shaft is rotated when a DC motor 1 is energized via a magnet switch 2 when the engine is started by using the DC motor 1 comprising a rotor 11 with a rotor winding is electrically connected to a plurality of commutator pieces disposed on the outer circumference of the rotary shaft in an insulating manner, a positive brush 12 which is brought into slidable contact with each commutator piece from the facing position to perform the electric connection to the rotor winding, a negative brush 13 and a stator winding 14 to be electrically connected in series to the rotor 11 with one end connected to the positive brush 12 has a charging/discharging circuit 3 in which a capacitor 31 is connected in parallel to the positive brush 12 and the negative brush 13 when the engine is started, and the capacitor is disconnected from the brushes 12 and 13 and the capacitor 31 is connected in parallel to a discharging resistor 32 when the engine start is completed.
