Abstract:
To provide an engine system which is advantageous to the improvement of the thermal efficiency of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An engine system S comprises an internal combustion engine 1 and a control unit 100. The internal combustion engine comprises: a main chamber 5 which is defined by a piston 2, a cylinder 3 and a cylinder head 4; a sub-chamber 16 communicating with the main chamber via an injection port 17; an ignition plug 10 arranged in the sub-camber; and an injector 9 for injecting fuel which is supplied into the main chamber. The control unit is constituted so as to control the ignition timing of the ignition plug, and an injection amount and the injection timing of the injector, ignites the ignition plug at later timing rather than a compression top dead point, and injects fuel from the injector at an amount at which air-fuel mixtures in the main chamber and the sub-chamber are not self-ignited before the ignition of the ignition plug.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
