This engine 1 includes: a cooling fan 32 attached to a crankshaft; a combustion chamber formed with a combustion chamber-side intake opening 27 provided on a side close to the cooling fan 32 and a combustion chamber-side exhaust opening 28 provided on a side far from the cooling fan 32 so that the openings are juxtaposed to the direction of the axis 26 of the crankshaft when viewed from the axis direction of a cylinder; an intake port 21 extending from the combustion chamber-side intake opening 27 toward a first direction separated from the direction of the axis 26 of the crankshaft when viewed from the axis direction of the cylinder; and an exhaust port 22 extending from the combustion chamber-side exhaust opening 28 so that it is directed to a second direction different from the first direction and separated from the direction of the axis 26 of the crankshaft from the combustion chamber-side exhaust opening 28 and the distance from the combustion chamber-side exhaust opening 28 in the direction of the axis 26 of the crankshaft is increased as it is separated from the combustion chamber-side exhaust opening 28.
