Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an engine valve which is secured in strength, and shows improved heat resistance, abrasion resistance, shock resistance.
CONSTITUTION: An engine valve body is formed by precision casting of intermetallic compound of Ti-Al. A shaft end of the engine valve is formed by hardenable heat resistant steel. Connection surfaces thereof are frictionall welded, and then subjected to annealing. It is thus possible to obtain the engine valve for an internal combustion engine which has a connection structure, improved heat resistance, abrasion resistance, and shock resistance.
