Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve controllability of the system in the title by providing such constitution as arranging an upper intake valve, an upper exhaust valve and an ignition plug in the upper part of a cylinder and also a lower intake valve and a lower exhaust valve on the cylinder side wall right above the lower dead point of a piston so that respective valves can be operated by fluid pressure. CONSTITUTION:This engine is so constructed as to be operated by switching from two cycle running to four cycle running selectively and an upper intake valve 1, an upper exhaust valve 4 and an ignition plug 3 are arranged in the upper end part of a cylinder and also a lower intake valve 2 and a lower exhaust valve 5 are arranged on the cylinder side wall right above the lower dead point of a piston. Respective valves 1, 2, 4, 5 are driven in open/close by fluid pressure cylinders 13-16 respectively. Respective fluid cylinders 13, 16 are drive-controlled by the control of electromagnetic valves 20-23 by means of a computer 24.
