PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce weight of an engine and inhibit engine noise.SOLUTION: An engine (2) includes: a clutch (41) disposed at one of left and right sides of a crank case (20); a magneto (42) disposed at the other of the left and right sides of the crank case; a clutch cover (6) covering a clutch; a magneto cover (5) covering the magneto; and a clutch release mechanism (43) which can switch engagement and disengagement of a clutch. The clutch release mechanism is provided at the magneto cover. The magneto cover has a bearing part (55) of a starter idle gear (44) which transmits power of a starter motor (45) to a crank shaft (40).
