To provide an engine working machine, which is capable of reducing an exhaust sound while maintaining product dimensions and an engine output comparable to those of a conventional machine, and which is also capable of reducing a vibration sound generated by vibration of a muffler side face.
An engine 36 is configured in such a manner that: a driving shaft direction of the engine 36 (Y direction), an opening direction of an exhaust port (Z direction), and an operation direction of a piston (X direction) are substantially perpendicular to one another; a muffler 4 is fastened to a proximity of an exhaust port 24 of the engine 36; the muffler 4 has a vertically long shape extended downward lower than a plane 72 passing on a lower end of a cylinder; and the muffler is provided with a protrusion 32 protruding in a direction toward the center of the engine 36, which secures a volume corresponding to a space 64. Since the muffler 4 is greatly extended downward, a fuel tank 22 is placed offset to a left side (-Z direction) and extended in a left end upward as shown by an arrow 80, which secures a volume corresponding to a space 68.
