The engine 1 provided with an EGR system taking out part of exhaust gas 9 from an exhaust gas system and re-circulating the same to an intake air system, and a fuel injection system injecting fuel in a cylinder 8 and making the same ignite by itself, is constructed to separate each cylinder 8 into two groups and to independently control the EGR system and the fuel injection system for each group divided into two.
