To provide a novel engine efficiently converting reciprocation of a piston into rotational movement without using a complicated and expensive crankshaft.
This engine includes: a cylinder 10; the piston 11 reciprocating in the cylinder 10; a connection means having one end swingably connected to the piston 11 through a pin 12; and a conversion means connected to the other end of the connection means and applying rotational movement to an output shaft 1. As a reciprocation/rotation conversion mechanism as an alternative to the existing crank means, a small-diameter external gear (2) fixed on the output shaft 1 and a large-diameter internal gear (3) performing eccentric motion around the external gear are combined with each other, and gear structures (4, 5) are provided so that the internal gear (3) stably performs the eccentric motion. Accordingly, it is possible to substitute for the rotation conversion function of the crankshaft.
