Abstract:
To improve operation efficiency of an engine by suppressing compression loss in a stopped cylinder, in the engine capable of performing reduced-cylinder operation.SOLUTION: An engine includes a cylinder head 12, a plug member 42, a rod 41, a pressure spring 44, and a hydraulic case 43. An intake port 21 is formed inside of the cylinder head 12. The plug member 42 is provided with a gas release passage 63 connecting a combustion chamber 13 and the intake port 21 of a cylinder C1 to be stopped in a reduced-cylinder operation. The rod 41 is movable to the plug member 42. The pressure spring 44 energizes the rod 41. A hydraulic fluid for moving the rod 41 is supplied to the hydraulic case 43. The gas release passage 63 is opened/closed to the combustion chamber 13 by movement of the rod 41.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
