Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bulletproof material having reduced weight and improved strength, and more specifically, to provide fabrics having an enhanced bulletproof performance produced of a highly elastic drawn fiber having an improved physical strength property with a smaller fiber diameter without changing properties such as fiber chemical property, binder resin type, and binder resin content.SOLUTION: Low denier/filament monofilament fibers, low denier/filament multifilament fibers, or a combination of low denier/filament monofilament fibers and low denier/filament multifilament fibers are incorporated in a specialized fabric construction, and thereby are formed fine fiber layers and fabrics having enhanced strength and fiber areal density without altering the fabric weight, or having reduced fabric weight without a corresponding reduction in ballistic performance.SELECTED DRAWING: None
