PURPOSE: To uniformly enlarge the subject intenstinal casing required for a sausage, etc., by immersing the intenstinal casing in an aqueous acid solution, inserting a spacer into the above-mentioned casing, enlarging the diameter thereof and immersing the resultant widened casing in a fixture solution.
CONSTITUTION: Salt of a salted casing is initially removed and the casing is subsequently set to pipes (A pair of pipe having 6mm diameter are used) using a piping machine and then immersed in an aqueous acid solution composed of an aqueous mixture solution of hydrochloric acid and lactic acid and having pH2.4-2.5 for one or two nights. A spacer is then inserted into the above- mentioned casing and the pair of pipes preliminarily inserted are widened to a prescribed size. The resultant widened casing is immersed in a fixative solution composed of an edible salt solution and the spacer is removed. The casing is further immersed in the fixative solution and the pair of pipes are replaced with a thick pipe, thus carrying out the objective enlargement of the diameter.
