ENZYMATIC ACYLATION OF 3-HYDROXYMETHYLCEPHALOSPORIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH07227296
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To acylate the subject compound useful as a raw material for antibiotics, etc., by reacting a specific cephalosporin compound with an acyl donor in the presence of a lipase or an esterase derived from Rodosporidium toruloides in an aqueous medium.

CONSTITUTION: 3-Hydroxymethyl cephalosporin compound formula I [R' is an acyl of the formula; R-CO (R is a carboxylic acid residue); G is sulfur, oxygen, sulfoxide, sulfone or methylene] (e.g. 3-hydroxymethyl-7 β-aminoceph-3-em-4- carboxylic acid or the like) is reacted with an acyl donor (e.g. isopropenyl acetate or the like) in the presence of a lipase or an esterase obtained from Rodosporidium toruloides, wheat germ, an orange peel, Bacillus subtilis, Aspergillus niger, etc., in an aqueous medium to give the objective 3- acyloxycephalosporin of formula III (X is H or a halo) useful as an intermediate for beta lactam antibiotic, etc. Rodosporidium toruloides.
