Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve network transmission efficiency by discriminating whether or not a cell inputted to a network in the vicinity of a network having the same VPI/VCI the same as that of an arrived cell is an EOP cell so as to reduce invalid cells sent to a receiver side.
SOLUTION: A cell identification section 1 identifies VPI/VCI(Virtual Path Identifier/Virtual Channel Identifier) and AUU(ATM-layer User to User) parameters, and a management table 2 stores and manages information as to whether or not an EOP(End Of Packet) cell is received for each VPI/VCI. When the EOP cell of the management table 2 is 'received', information as to whether or not the network is in congestion is obtained from a congestion discrimination section 3. In the case of the congestion state, cell abort is informed to a processing section 4 and when not in a congestion state, cell input is informed to the processing section 4. Thus, other cells than the EOP cell are all aborted and invalid cells to be sent to the receiver side are reduced.
