PURPOSE: To provide an epicyclic roller type friction gearing having a small number of components and a simple structure by eliminating a regulating mechanism for contact pressures, the use of which is inevitable in conventional epicyclic gear type friction gearing.
CONSTITUTION: In an epicyclic roller type friction gearing which comprises a plurality of epicyclic rollers 13 disposed around a sun roller 3 and an outer ring 16 disposed outside the group of epicyclic rollers 13, and which transmits torque by means of the frictional contact between the outer ring 16 and each roller 13, the outer ring 16 is formed by one part of a casing surrounding the group of epicyclic rollers, and the outer ring 16 is elastically deformed by interference fit into the group of epicyclic rollers 13, thus generating radial contact pressure between the outer ring 16 and each roller 13, 13.
