Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an etoposide solution, a concentrated solution of which can be used as the solution for filling a gelatin capsule, and capable of orally or parenterally administrated by containing the etoposide useful for treating refractory testicular cancer and small cell lung cancer. CONSTITUTION: This etoposide solution comprises etoposide in dimethylisosorbide. The amount of the etoposide [the chemical name is 4'- demethylepipodophyllotoxin9-(4,6-O(R)ethylidyne-β-D-glucopyranoside)] is not limited but selected according to the medication form to be formulated and a pharmaceutical object, and a preferable solution for filling a gelatin capsule includes about 50-320mg etoposide activity per mL solution. Other preferable solution contains about 10-50mg of etoposide activity per mL solution and is used to formulate a parenteral dosage form. The objective solution can contain an acid, especially citric acid, and further preferably contains taurocholic acid, polyethylene glycol and water for oral administration.
