PURPOSE: To carry out bending without generating scratches on a plate to be worked by providing a 1st spring pad and a fixed lower die at a prescribed interval in parallel on a pedestal, etc., and making this pad and a movable upper die synchronously freely movable in the direction of a fixed lower die.

CONSTITUTION: The plate A to be worked is mounted between the 1st spring pad 23 and the fixed lower die 22. The movable upper die 27 and a 2nd spring pad 29 are lowered synchronously and one end of the plate A to be worked is pressed and held on the fixed lower die 22 to bring the movable upper die 27 into contact with the other end of the plate A to be worked. While the movable upper die 27 is lowered against the pressing force of the 1st spring pad 23, the plate A to be worked is moved respectively by cam slide mechanisms 24, 28 with the above pad 23 synchronously toward the direction of the fixed lower die 22 and the 2nd spring pad 29 to perform a required bending. Consequently, bending can be carried out keeping the nice surface of a decorative panel, etc., without generating linear scratches accompanied by shock lines.
