To provide melting equipment that is capable of protecting a furnace wall and maintaining a high purity of produced vanadium pentoxide, enables easy flaking in a later step and suppresses emission of vanadium pentoxide dust so as not to adversely affect human health.

The melting equipment includes: a melting furnace 1 that has a furnace bottom 2, a furnace wall 3 and a furnace lid 4 and is capable of housing a vanadium pentoxide deposit Vh; and a heater 6 capable of directly heating the surface of the vanadium pentoxide deposit Vh housed inside the melting furnace. Since the surface of the vanadium pentoxide deposit Vh is directly heated, the surface of the deposit is covered with a melt or a sintered product, thereby preventing dust emission and health hazard of workers. Since the vanadium pentoxide deposit Vh is directly heated and melted without heating the entire furnace to a temperature higher than necessary for melting, penetration of the vanadium pentoxide melt into the furnace wall can be prevented, thereby maintaining the high purity of the vanadium pentoxide product free from contamination of impurities resulting from wall furnace damage.
