Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use efficiently expansion processing resources in accordance with the configuration of printing devices of a color page printer of a tandem system and the contents of print data, and to attain high-speed printing.
SOLUTION: Print data are read out by a band-by-band basis from a print data storage means and the amount of the print data subjected to an expansion processing in an expansion processing means 6 is estimated for each band unit and recording color. Based on this estimation, reconfiguration of the expansion processing means is conducted and processing resources for executing the expansion processing of each recording color are distributed in proportion to the amount of each recording color subjected to the expansion processing. Moreover, a time for the expansion processing by the band is preestimated on the basis of the amount of each recording color subjected to the expansion processing and information on the reconfiguration by a reconfiguration means, and a printing speed of an image output device is controlled on the basis of the estimated time for the expansion processing by the band.
